Best Selling Jersey In Ajax: After a difficult start to life in Saudi Arabia, the former Liverpool captain, Jordan Henderson decided to call it a day with Al Ettifaq and look for greener pastures elsewhere. The England international left the Saudi side with immediate effect and had the following message for the fans:

“I want to take this opportunity to thank the club and the fans for all the support during my time. I really felt the love from day one. I’ll keep watching and hoping for your success. Good luck for the future.”

A return to the Premier League was strongly anticipated with clubs like Brighton and Brentford having very strong links to the Englishman's camp but it was Ajax who managed to land him, and did too in some fashion!

Ajax had an abysmal start to the season and some tipped them for relegation but after some resurgence, they sit sixth at the table and with the signing of Jordan Henderson, they look very well set to strengthen their muscles.

Jordan Henderson: Number 6 Jersey Sold Out

Dusan Tadic and Daley Blind were previous holders of the 'fastest selling Ajax shirts' record but it seems Jordan Henderson has outdone them by some margin. The excitement around the transfer is pretty evident, no?

John Van't Schip, Ajax's manager in particular was looking forward to a fresh new start with the addition of a well established and experienced acquisition in the form of Jordan Henderson. He says:

"We wanted an experienced midfielder with leadership qualities. Partially due to injuries in the team, we were looking for someone who could step in immediately. Jordan Henderson is that type of player.

"His arrival means a huge enhancement for our squad. Both on and off the pitch, a football player of this calibre is important for our many young players.

"He’s an English international player and has won the Champions League and many other prizes with Liverpool. I am happy he’s here, and I think it’s very good for our club that he’s an Ajacied from today onwards."

How Much Will He Earn?

It is reported that Jordan Henderson will be earning less than Steven Bergwijn, a Premier League flop. Despite being a record breaking signing for Ajax, he will become the fourth highest paid player on Ajax's wage list.

It is reported that he will be earning £2 million per year at Ajax which is a sharp contrast to what he earned at Al Ettifaq, at £8 million, a staggering pay cut soaring to 75%.

Brian Brobbey and Steven Berghuis come in at second and third on the wage list above Henderson, making £3.74 million and £3.22 million respectively.

Jordan Henderson wanted Number 14

The one-time Champions League winner wore the number 14 jersey during his time at Liverpool but opted for number 10 at Al Ettifaq. His taste for the number 14 jersey didn't just end there as he looked to put it on once more, but this time in Ajax colors.

However, he was faced with a dilemma. The number 14 jersey has been retired at Ajax in reverence of Johan Cruyff, an icon for Ajax, as a player and as a manager as well.

Having that option closed, he turned to the number 8 and number 10 jerseys but they were both occupied by players Chubba Akpom and Kenneth Taylor.

Instead, Henderson chose the number 6 jersey and is locked and loaded to start a new chapter in Amsterdam.
